Day 1 – Kigali, Rwanda
We have finally arrived in Rwanda — Kigali, to be exact. We got here around 4:00 p.m. U.S. time. I really miss you a ton. I wonder what it would be like to experience this with you.
I was talking with one of the girls who came with us, and she was telling me how she cried when we finally arrived. At first, I was thinking, “Dang girl, were you that uncomfortable on that plane? lol.” But then she continued and mentioned that she cried because she had finally made it to the motherland — the land where her people (our people) first lived.
It put things into perspective for me really quickly. Some people are here for more than just the university’s reasons. They are here to connect with a part of themselves. And I realize that I’m also here for reasons outside of the university. I want to experience this land in a specific way too — almost like a homecoming.
And while my people or hers may not be from Rwanda specifically, we are definitely from this continent. I know we are!
What I ate 🍝:
Today we were only fortunate to eat dinner in Rwanda at the hotel. They had the food ready by the time we got there. It was buffet style- there was curry chicken, pesto pasta, rice, and some other things I forgot lol. Everything was pretty good especially the curry chicken and pesto pasta which is probably why I can only remember those 😂.
They also had these mango drinks when we first arrived that were so good! Along with a rose lol.

What I Miss?
….You duhh! But nah i really miss your hugs and kisses right now.
“Three kisses”😘 😘😘
Photo of the Day:

This is the food that they fed us on the plane. I believe it’s pasta with bread, a side salad, and a birthday cookie. The cookie was the best lol. It was really just an upscale tv dinner lol…it tore my stomach uppp.
Random:
You’re right about it feeling like we’re in a long distance relationship right now lol. I can feel my wheels turning on how to come up with ways for us not to lose our connection/ closeness despite our physical distance. We are 7685 miles away and I can still feel your kisses and hugs as if you were right here. The distance ain’t doing nothing but showing me how much I love you. Reminds me of how I’ve never loved like this before. One thing about being this far that does make me a little sad is that I’m not able to be there for you how I would like to when you’re feeling stressed about your job. Honestly to hell with those people and that job. I’m praying that you find an opportunity that’s more purposeful and pays you what you’re worth – which is impossible because ain’t that much money in the world lol. But something that puts you in a position to have a steady peace of mind and be financially secure. It’ll happen…I know it will.
SN: The shower pressure here is trash lol. We definitely wouldn’t be able to shower together, you’ll really be hogging all the water😂.
love you Chink 🧡
