Training Days
I am combining both Tuesday and Wednesday into this blog because they are short enough to go together. These days were full of training. Like I believed would happen. They men in the group began to open up but not until a woman joined our group and shared her story with us. The group was both interested and intrigued by her story which opened them up to sharing their owns. The woman when shared was a survivor of the genocide against the Tutsi. Her story started off as one of despair and then turned into one of survivor and empowerment. All I could think was it would take a woman for them to open up, which I completely understand because my mom has the same effect on me.
They all shared stories of their specific trauma. Some of it was related to the genocide against the Tutsi and some of it wasn’t. Which is completely fine because somehow they were still inspired by one another’s story. The women in our group mainly spoke in Kinyarwanda. She mentioned something about looking into your hand and knowing that anything possible. On the next day one of the member mentioned it and spoke about how that encouraged them a lot.
At the end of these two day everyone was like family. Most of them didn’t know each other before this but they expressed how they believe that now they have made solid connections with the member of our group. And that they will be friends outside of this.
On Wednesday we went to a basketball game. It was like the semifinals for the African league. It was a good time the food was really good and the energy was crazy.
What I ate 🥙:
For breakfast, I had pineapples watermelon and porridge for both days. I had to chill out on eating so much of that meat. I think it was causing my stomach to act up.
For lunch, we all ate together. We had rice, cabbage, potatoes, beef, and chicken.
For dinner, I skipped dinner Tuesday. But Wednesday we went to the game and I got a gyro! Probably the best for I’ve had so far.
What I miss 🧡:
I kind of miss cooking even though I didn’t do much of that when I was home lol. I might get back into it. I think I’m inspired by that girl that be cooking on instagram.
